This top-up programme is intended if you intend to conduct research in a particular area related to the teaching of Ethics in schools. It is open only if you are already in possession of a Postgraduate Certificate in the same area, meaning that you should already have a good grounding in the theory and practice of teaching the subject in schools. This course will require you to register for a 10 ECTS study-unit related to research methods, and then apply those research methods to explore, through a 60 ECTS dissertation, an area of specialisation within the field.

By the end of the course you will:

Acquire new knowledge in the area of teaching Ethics in schools.
Incorporate that knowledge in everyday teaching situations in class.
Be more conscious of the ethical and social responsibilities teachers have in their duties at school.
Have the capacity to develop and adapt further the current Ethics curriculum.

With an M.Ed. in the Teaching of Ethics in Schools, you can further your education to PhD level. Successful completion of the degree would also improve your chances of progression within the educational sector, as well as employment in other related fields.
